Read moreComprised of 79 Member States from Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific, the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) strives to achieve the sustainable development of its Members and their progressive integration into the world economy.
The Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), evolved from the ACP Group, founded via the Georgetown Agreement in 1975. It comprises 79 African, Caribbean and Pacific States. The main goals of the OACPS centre around the sustainable development of its Members and their gradual integration into the global economy with the ultimate objective of reducing and eventually eradicating poverty; coordination of OACPS activities in the framework of the implementation of the existing Partnership Agreement with the European Union; consolidation of unity and solidarity among Members of the OACPS; the promotion of multilateralism; the establishment and strengthening of peace, security and stability in free and democratic societies; and the empowerment of Youth and Women.
H.E. Mr Georges Rebelo Pinto Chikoti was elected as the new Secretary-General of the Organisation.
Department of Political Affairs and Human Development (PAHD)
The PAHD Department manages the imple- mentation of international partnerships in the areas of human development and monitors the political situation in its member states.
Department of Macroeconomics, Development Finance and Programming (MFDP)
The MFDP Department coordinates activities in the programming, financial and technical cooperation between OACPS and partners, including the EU.
Department of Environment and Climate Action (ECA)
The ECA Department coordinates the Secretariat’s activities in the area of sustainable development, with a focus on food security and climate change.
Department of Structural Economic Transformation and Trade (SETT)
The SETT Department coordinates the Secretariat’s activities in the areas of sustainable economic development, with a focus on trade and trade-related issues.
Department of Administration, Finance and Human Resources (AFHR)
The AFHR Department manages the administrative, financial and human resource functions of the OACPS Secretariat.
