OACPS Secretary-General appeals for closer unity among 79-member Organisation

Secretary-General of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), H.E. Mr Georges Rebelo Pinto Chikoti, urged unified positions by the 79-member grouping ahead of a number of international meetings, namely, the 77th United Nations General Assembly in September, the World Health Summit 2022 in Germany in October as well as the UN Climate Change Conference 2022 (UNFCCC COP 27) to be staged in Egypt in November and the Convention on biological diversity COP 15 in Montreal, Canada in December.

The African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group of States was formed on the 6th of June 1975 in the city of Georgetown, Guyana. This date has, since then, been known as ACP Day. On the 5th of April 2020, the ACP Group became the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), and we now celebrate OACPS Day on the 5th of April.
