Statement of the Secretary-General of the OACPS on the outcome of the Presidential elections in the Republic of Guinea
Brussels, 30 October 2020/OACPS: On behalf of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), the Secretary-General, H.E. Mr. Georges Rebelo Pinto Chikoti, takes note of the results of the Presidential elections held in the Republic of Guinea, on 18 October 2020, as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI).
H.E. Chikoti congratulates the incumbent President, H.E. Professor Alpha Condé, on the election victory and wishes him success in his new mandate and efforts to reach an amicable solution to the current political situation. The Secretary-General reiterates the need for constructive dialogues between the Government, the opposition and civil society that seek to achieve consensus through an inclusive process of dialogue.
The Secretary-General reaffirms the support and solidarity of the OACPS with the people of the Republic of Guinea, and welcomes the offer by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to continue to support the efforts by the State to strengthen its democratic processes.
