OACPS of the Future: Transition. Solidarity. Unity.
The African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group of States officially became the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) on 5 April 2020. This followed the entry-into-force of the revised Georgetown Agreement which was endorsed by the ACP Heads of State at the 9th Summit of ACP Heads of State and Government in December 2019 in Nairobi, Kenya.
To celebrate the first year as the OACPS, the Secretariat hosted a virtual, celebratory townhall at which the Secretary-General delivered the Organisation’s first State of the Organisation Address, detailing several of the OACPS’ achievements in its first year as well as the plans for the future. The meeting was chaired by Dr. The Honourable Amery Browne, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago with remarks from H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta, President of Kenya and President of the 9th Summit of OACPS Heads of State and Government and Fatumanava-o-Upolu III Dr Paolelei Luteru, Ambassador of the Independent State of Samoa and Chair of the OACPS Committee of Ambassadors.
