H.E. Mr. Georges Rebelo Pinto Chikoti, on behalf of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), congratulates Ms. Amy Pope on her election as the next Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM).  The OACPS is determined to enhance the excellent partnership between the two institutions in addressing the challenges posed by migration and human mobility. The Secretary-General welcomes the election of the first woman to lead the IOM and assures Ms Pope of the full support of the OACPS in her efforts to ensure respect for the rights of migrants worldwide, and to strengthen their contribution to inclusive, sustainable development in both countries of origin and destination. The OACPS particularly intends to actively participate in the promotion of the essential role played by diasporas, including by joining the future Global Diaspora Policy Alliance (GDPAL).
