Brussels, 8 March 2016: The Secretary General of the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group of States H.E. Dr. Patrick I. Gomes met with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Congo H.E. Mr. Jean-Claude Gakosso on 3 March at the ACP Headquarters in Brussels.
Secretary General Gomes and Foreign Affairs Minister Gokassa reaffirmed their mutual commitment to strengthening relations between the Republic of Congo and the ACP Group. They also discussed the forthcoming Presidential elections in Congo, scheduled for 20 March, as well as other key political and development issues of common interest. The Secretary General encouraged peace, transparency, and inclusivity in carrying out the election process, and urged more participation of women and young people.
Present also at the meeting were the Congolese Ambassador and Chairman-in-Office of Committee of Ambassadors H.E Roger-Julien Menga, Assistant Secretary General in charge of Political Affairs and Human Development Amb. Léonard Ognimba, the Chef de Cabinet Amb. Mamour Jagne, as well as other officials.
