Brussels, 27 June 2014/ ACP: The Secretary-General of the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (ACP Group) Alhaji Muhammad Mumuni learned with dismay about the bombing perpetrated at a supermarket in Abuja, the capital of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, on Wednesday 25 June 2014.

On behalf of the ACP Group, the Secretary-General firmly condemns this heinous act which claimed the lives of several innocent civilians and injured many others and offers condolences to the Government of Nigeria and the grieving families. He calls for the authors and sponsors of the attack to be identified, arrested and punished in accordance with law.

The ACP Secretary-General reaffirms his conviction that violence will never be an honourable way for humanity to obtain legitimate political and social objectives. With this in mind, he urges the parties concerned to give priority to dialogue.
