Port Moresby, 7 September 2015/ ACP: The Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, Rt. Hon. Peter O'neill met with a delegation of the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States led by the Secretary General H.E Dr. Patrick Gomes. Discussions included plans to host the 8th Summit of ACP Heads of State and Government in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea on 30 May – 1 June 2016, bringing top officials from the 79 ACP member states to the region. The proposal will be tabled to the relevant ACP bodies in coming months.

The Secretary General referred to Papua New Guinea's "pivotal and strategic" place in the Asia-Pacific realm and acknowledged the significant contributions of the country to the region as well as to the work of the ACP Group as a whole. Prime Minister O'neill reiterated his commitment to ensuring the success of the Summit, especially in boosting ACP partnerships and connections in a globalised world.
