NEWS: Haiti to host ACP music festival network
PORT-AU-PRINCE, 11 January 2011/ Defend.ht: After stops in Africa (Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Gabon, Tanzania), Europe (Denmark), in the Indian Ocean (Réunion) and the Pacific (Vanuatu), Haiti was chosen to host the next Music Festivals Network Africa-Caribbean-Pacific (ACP).
The event takes place from January 28th through the 31st, Haiti will host the Music Festivals Network Africa-Caribbean-Pacific (ACP).
Led by the French association, Zone Franche , World Music Network , the project aims to develop the music industry festivals around the ACP partners in space. This project is supported by the program to support cultural industries ACP Program ACP Group of States funded by the European Union.
The business meetings will be held in Port-au-Prince from 28 to 31 January 2012, relayed by the Jazz Foundation Haiti, organizer of the Festival International de Jazz de Port-au-Prince, in partnership with Caracol and the French Institute in Haiti. Forty Haitian music professionals will gather to meet their foreign counterparts in workshops to enhance the exchange of expertise and networking or showcases presenting a variety of Haitian music.
Among the foreign professionals expected include Jose Da Silva, manager of the Cape Verdean singer recently disappeared, Cesaria Evora, Philippe Conrath, Africolor festival director, Christoph Borkowsky, president of the WOMEX – World Music Expo or Lynden Leonce Festival Jazz in the South of St. Lucia.
