DECISION No.3/XCIX/14 OF THE 99TH SESSION OF THE ACP COUNCIL OF MINISTERS HELD IN NAIROBI, KENYA FROM 16 TO 18 JUNE 2014
TIMETABLE FOR APPOINTING THE SECRETARY-GENERAL AND ASSISTANT SECRETARIES-GENERAL TAKING OFFICE IN 2015

The ACP Council of Ministers,

– Meeting in Nairobi, Kenya, from 16 to 18 June 2014,

HAVING REGARD TO the Second revised Georgetown Agreement;

HAVING REGARD TO the Revised Staff Regulations of the ACP Secretariat;

CONSIDERING that the term of office of the incumbent Secretary-General and the Assistant Secretaries-General ends on 29 February 2015;

HEREBY DECIDES TO:

1. Adopt the timetable set out below for appointing the Secretary-General to take office on 1 March 2015:

· 16 June 2014 (99th session of Council): The Council of Ministers allocated the position to the Caribbean region;

· Before 30 June 2014: The President of the Council of Ministers shall notify all the Caribbean States through their Diplomatic Missions in Brussels;

· 15 September 2014 : The region shall submit 3 candidates ;

· 100th Session of the Council of Ministers (3 to 5 November 2014: Appointment of the Secretary-General by the Council of Ministers;

· 2nd March 2015: The Secretary-General shall assume duties for a term of five (5) years ending on 28 February 2020.

2. Adopt the timetable set out below for appointing the Assistant Secretaries- General taking office in 2015:

· 15 July 2014 at latest: The Secretariat shall issue the calls for candidates to the concern regions for the respective Assistant Secretary-General posts. The regions shall submit five (5) candidates for the allocated post by 30 January 2015 at the latest;

· 30 March 2015 at latest: The new Secretary-General shall select and appoint the Assistant Secretaries-General;

· 1st June 2015 at latest: The new Assistant Secretaries-General shall assume office.
