Paulo Kautoke Obadiah Mailafia ACP Group

Brussels, 11 April 2012/ ACP: The African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (ACP Group) today officially conveyed itscondolences to the Government of the Republic of Malawi, after the death of the country’s former President H.E Ngwazi Prof. Bingu Wa Mutharika last Thursday.

Acting Secretary General for the ACP Group Mr Paulo Kautoke and Cabinet Chief Dr Obadiah Mailafia called upon the Embassy of Malawi in Brussels to sign a public condolence book, and personally share messages of sympathy with the Ambassador H.E. Dr. Brave R. Ndisale on behalf of ACP members.

Prof. Mutharika was President of the Republic from 2004 until his death on April 5th 2012, after suffering cardiac arrest. He was aged 78. The Government of Malawi has declared a 10 day period of national mourning, from 7 to 16 April 2012.

The book of condolence will be open at the Embassy of Malawi in Brussels, Belgium, Avenue Herrmann Debroux 46, 1160 Brussels from Wednesday, 11 April to Friday 14 April from 10h00 to 12h00 and 15h00 to 17h00.
