Brussels, 15 April 2014/ ACP: Secretary General H.E Alhaji Muhammad Mumuni conveyed his deep condolences to the Government and people of Trinidad and Tobago on behalf of the ACP Group of States, over the death of former Prime Minister and former President, the Rt. Honourable Arthur Napoleon Raymond Robinson last week.
“The late Honourable Robinson was one of the greatest leaders of the Caribbean. His love for his country and selfless service to his people is a worthy legacy that he has left for us to emulate. Indeed, we have lost him at a time when we needed the guidance of his wisdom and good counsel the most,” the Secretary General stated in an official letter to government.
Hon. Robinson was Prime Minister from 1986 to 1991, before being appointed as President from 1997 to 2003. He died at age 87.
The funeral is scheduled for May 3, 2014 in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.
