ACP Group mourns passing of Zambia’s President Sata
Brussels, 4 November 2014/ ACP: The ACP Secretary General H.E Alhaji Muhammad Mumuni sent his condolences on behalf of the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States to the Government and people of the Republic of Zambia, after the death of the late President, H.E Michael Sata on 28 October.
“The late President was one of the leading statesmen of his generation. A champion of democracy, good governance, and the rule of law; he was known for his forthrightness, integrity, vision, and moral courage. He took over the leadership of Zambia at a time when democracy was being consolidated and long term sustainable growth was being established on strong and unassailable foundations,” the Secretary General stated in an official letter.
He referred to the late President Sata as a “giant of Africa” and reiterated the support of the ACP family of nations to the Republic of Zambia.
The state funeral is scheduled for Tuesday, 11 November.
