ACP Group and OIF strengthen cooperation
Paris, 27 November 2017/ OIF/ ACP: The African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States and the Organisation International de la Francophonie (OIF) agreed to intensify their collaboration to support the development objectives of their 34 shared member states.
The ACP Secretary General H.E. Dr. Patrick Gomes and the Secretary General of the Francophonie H.E. Ms. Michaëlle signed a new cooperation agreement on Thursday, November 23, 2017 in Paris (pictured).
This key step will spur collaboration by the ACP and OIF in six main sectors: peace and security, education, climate protection, cultural relations, linguistic diversity, economic development and social integration. entrepreneurship of young people and women.
The two secretaries-general welcomed the very good relations that have prevailed since the signing of a first agreement in 2002 . Under this agreement, several projects have been carried out in the field of economic development and education through programmes such as Hub & Spokes (trade capacity building in ACP countries) and IFADEM (distance learning for teachers). Joint initiatives between the two organizations are carried out thanks to support from the European Union, under the ACP-EU cooperation framework.
The ACP and the OIF heads reiterated their joint committed to shared objectives, including the eradication of poverty and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals in their respective member countries.
