ACP and EU leaders intensify regional talks in Samoa
Brussels, 26 February 2019/ACP:Secretary General of the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States, Dr. Patrick Gomes is today participating in a high level dialogue with representatives of the Pacific and the European Union on post-Cotonou negotiations, in Apia, the capital of Samoa.
The ACP Group chief negotiator, Professor Robert Dussey, Minister for Foreign Affairs Cooperation and African Integration of the Togolese Republic and the EU's Chief Negotiator, Neven Mimica, Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development, are also attending the dialogue.
The dialogue is convened as part of the process of political consultations between the different ACP regions and the EU on the negotiations for a Post-Cotonou Treaty in line with the processes endorsed to by the ACP Group and the EU at the launching of the negotiations in September 2018. It will focus on the status of the ACP-EU negotiations and discuss issues of priority and concern for the Pacific region in the negotiations.
