The Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) will host the 60th Session of the OACPS Parliamentary Assembly (PA) from 29-31 March 2022. The meeting will be followed by the 41st Session of the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly (JPA) from 1-3 April 2022.

The meetings, to be held in Strasbourg, France, will be the first in-person Sessions of the Assemblies since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

The 41st session of the JPA is of particular importance as it will be the last JPA under the Cotonou Partnership Agreement.

60th OACPS Parliamentary Assembly (PA)
During the Session which will take place from 29-31 March 2022, OACPS Parliamentarians will exchange views on current global issues of interest to the OACPS.

The three Committees of the OACPS Parliamentary Assembly: Political Affairs; Economic Development, Finance and Trade; and Social Affairs and the Environment will report the outcome of their proceedings at the 60th Session. A special session is also planned to brief parliamentarians on the new OACPS-EU Partnership Agreement.

41st Session of the ACP-EU JPA
The formal opening of the 41st Session of the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly (JPA) takes place on Friday, 1 April 2022.

Joint chairs of the ACP-EU JPA, the Hon. Mr Carlos Zorrinho (EU), and the Hon. Mr Peter Kenilorea (Jr) of the Solomon Islands will lead debates on a number of issues, including the new OACPS-EU Partnership Agreement, peace and security challenges and the impact of COVID-19 on education globally. Given that COP27 will take place in Egypt and is considered to be an African COP, issues related to climate change are also prominent on the agenda.

A Special Parliamentary Celebration is also foreseen, in celebration of 20 years of the Cotonou Partnership Agreement and the future OACPS-EU parliamentary cooperation.

OACPS State of the Organisation (SOrg) Address
In view of the fact that the OACPS, on 5 April 2022 will celebrate the second anniversary of the entry-into-force of the revised Georgetown Agreement, which led to the change of organizational status and established the OACPS Parliamentary Assembly as an organ of the OACPS, Secretary-General of the OACPS, H.E. Mr Georges Rebelo Pinto Chikoti, will deliver the second State of the Organisation (SOrg) address at a special meeting of the OACPS Parliamentary Assembly, on 31 March.
