Statement by the Secretary-General of the OACPS on the Presidential Elections in the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia
Brussels, 3 August 2021/OACPS: On behalf of the of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), the Secretary-General, H.E. Mr. Georges Rebelo Pinto Chikoti, welcomes, the outcome of the general elections in the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, as announced by the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia.
H.E. Mr. Chikoti congratulates incumbent Prime Minister H.E. Dr. Abiy Ahmed on his party’s victory. Secretary-General Chikoti conveys his best wishes to PM Ahmed for his new mandate as well as in the rescheduled elections slated for September for the remaining constituencies in order to successfully conclude the 6th General elections.
The Secretary-General reaffirms the OACPS’ support and solidarity with the people of Ethiopia and looks forward to working with Prime Minister Abiy to achieve the objectives and promote the interests of the peoples of the OACPS.
