Indonesia and the OACPS Secretariat sign Letter of Intent on capacity building cooperation in the field of Information, Communication and Technology
Brussels, 8 December 2021/OACPS: On 3 December 2021, Ambassador Andri Hadi and Secretary-General Georges Rebelo Pinto Chikoti signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) between the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Brussels and the Secretariat of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) on Capacity Building Cooperation in the field of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT).
The LoI sets the foundation for the cooperation between the Indonesian Embassy in Brussels and the OACPS Secretariat in the field of ICT. As an initial step to implement the LoI, a finance and accounting software will be developed in order to provide more efficiency and boost the effectiveness of the OACPS Secretariat in carrying out its duties.
Many Members of the OACPS currently have relations with Indonesia and discussions have been ongoing between the Secretariat of the OACPS and the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Brussels since the first quarter of 2021.
Assistance to the African, Caribbean and Pacific regions has assumed greater importance in Indonesia’s foreign policy priorities and the LoI marks the beginning of a renewed, enhanced, long term, positive, mutual and productive relationship between Indonesia and the OACPS.
The initiative for cooperation between Indonesia and the OACPS in the field of ICT was coined in February 2021. The cooperation was endorsed by the 113th Session of the Council of Ministers of the OACPS which was held on 2 December 2021.
