High-level fisheries and aquaculture policymakers from the Member States of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), as well as leading fisheries professionals and practitioners met in Accra, Ghana for the 7th Meeting of OACPS Ministers in charge of Fisheries and Aquaculture from 5-8 April 2022.

Themed, “OACPS’s Blue Economy Agenda 2030 – Catalysing Sustainable Fisheries and Aquaculture Development for the Future”, the meeting was hosted by the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, Ghana.

In his closing remarks at the Meeting, Secretary-General of the OACPS, mentioning the challenges facing the sustainable development of the fisheries and aquaculture sector as a result of fisheries governance challenges and human-induced challenges and pressures such as climate change, overfishing, pollution and environmental degradation, nevertheless applauded the considerable efforts by the Senior Officials and the Ministers at the 7th Session, resulting, most notably in the Declaration produced at the end of the Meeting.
