Brussels, 15 May 2020/OACPS: H.E. Mr. Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta, President of the Republic of Kenya and President-in-Office of the Summit of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), in a recent message addressed to OACPS Heads of State and Government, called for solidarity among all OACPS to address the unprecedented COVID-19 challenges. He also expressed his deepest sympathies to those who have lost loved ones or have otherwise suffered as a consequence of the Pandemic.

Making reference to the 9th ACP Summit which took place in Nairobi in December 2019, the President invited his counterparts to a special virtual Summit: “I have proposed convening of a special virtual Summit on the theme "Transcending the COVID-19 Pandemic: Building Resilience and Rebooting Stronger Economies", which would facilitate specific pronouncements on intended "collective and collaborative approaches that will ensure that the effects of the pandemic have minimal disruptions to our economic and social activities and especially our productive sectors."
