At the invitation of H.E. João Lourenço, President of the Republic of Angola and Chair of the OACPS Summit of Heads of State and Government, H.E. Moussa Saleh Batraki, Secretary General of the OACPS, paid an official visit to Luanda, Angola, this Friday 15 August 2025. During the audience, discussions focused on two key areas:

  • Status of the Organisation – The Secretary General of the OACPS provided to the Chair of the Summit, an overview on key institutional developments, highlighting the Organisation’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its operations and strategic partnerships. Among the initiatives discussed was the OACPS Championship on Resource Mobilisation, led by His Majesty the King of Eswatini, which underscores the Organisation’s commitment to mobilising resources for its mandate. The Secretary General also announced the relocation of the OACPS headquarters, following the sale of the ACP House and the acquisition of a new facility in Brussels. He further reported the completion of the 2022 and 2023 audits, reinforcing the Organisation’s dedication to transparency, accountability, and good governance, and finally provided an update on the ratification of the Samoa Agreement, which now serves as the new guiding framework for the partnership between the European Union and the OACPS, marking a significant milestone in deepening collaboration and strategic engagement.

  • Preparations for the 11th OACPS Summit in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea – scheduled for 27–29 March 2026, which will bring together OACPS leaders to advance South-South cooperation, broader collaboration, and shared priorities. In the lead-up to the Summit, a series of high-impact preparatory events will take place, including the Youth, Women, Private Sector, Peace & Security, and Climate Change (SIDS-focused) Forums, as well as a High-Level Roundtable and Dialogue with Partners. These events will help shape the Summit’s agenda and outcomes, ensuring inclusive and results-oriented deliberations.

President Lourenço commended the Secretary General’s efforts to advance the Organisation’s renewal and reaffirmed Angola’s commitment to the OACPS Agenda and in particular the success of the upcoming Summit in Malabo.
